6.1 DevBuild 2 Now Available

see http://dev.wavemaker.com/wiki/bin/view/Dev/DevBuilds

I did some simple measurements putting a Hello World application on a GoGrid instance:

- w2k8 server
- 1 GB ram
- Tomcat 5.5
- DSL: Max. 4mb/s download

With my up-to-date firefox 3.5.7 I got these manual measured timing results :

http://173.204.23.211:8080/helloworld606ga/

18 seconds

http://173.204.23.211:8080/helloworld611devbuild2/

6 seconds

I will run this instance until tomorrow so you can test it your self.

B.t.w. Don't forget to clear your browser-cache between measuring sessions !

61DB2 vs 60GA on GoGrid - Nearly 3X Faster Here

Thanks for setting that up Niek.

I'm seeing just shy of 3x improvement.

6.06GA: 3.507s, 3.324s, 3.424s = 3.418 sec avg
6.11DB2: 1.1823s, 1.237s, 1.169s = 1.196 sec avg

1.196 X 3 = 3.588 - not a full 3X,
3.418/1.196 = 2.857 to be more precise.

In the spirit of full disclosure, these results were from the office (download bandwidth is plentiful) and GoGrid's DataCenter is literally down the street (we can see the telcom center out the window, nice facility) using FF 3.5.7 with YSlow, and a clear cache every time (cache is also disabled wholesale via about:config).

Wow...so little

Wow...so little latency...I'm born at the wrong site of the  planet ;-)

Btw I'm using a $100 promotion offering from goGrid for this server. Nice offer for testing purposes like this.

That is a good promo deal on

That is a good promo deal on a cloud server.

You may be on the wrong side of things for latency to SF, but if you're looking for a nice bowl of vla, this is the wrong side of the planet ;-)

Wow would love to have such

Wow would love to have such bandwidth !

We need more bandwidth to the middle of the Pacific

Average over 5 runs with cleared cache each time.

More measurements

I have done some more measurements with the firebug net tools

GA
1,07mb (1,07mb cached)
non cache 24,82s
cached 17,92s

DEVBUILD2
240kb (28 kb cached)
non cache 10.03s
cached 10.58

Remarkable fact: caching is slower than non-caching in DEVBUILD2 !

Also, the other site of the planet is discriminated when the USA is busy ;-)
